This song popped up, and the lyrics immediately caught my ears. Go Home Bay is where I grew up cottaging, a little bay off of Georgian Bay. It’s a long narrow strait in many spots with the bay being about twenty feet wide with sheer rock faces on either side. Maybe some day I’ll go back. I don’t think I’ll find anywhere else in the world I find as beautiful.
The song is good too.

This entire album is pretty solid. Cleaves is from Maine, but he’s only a short remove from one of Ontario’s finest - Fred Eaglesmith.
The connection: one of Slaid Cleaves’s frequent collaborator is a childhood friend who also became a singer/songwriter, the musician Rod Picott ; Picott & Eaglesmith (Port Dover, ON, mostly) have written a handful of songs together.
Fred’s a great entertainer , and could easily have had a career as a comedian/storyteller/raconteur. Writes some damn fine lyrics, and always surrounded himself with exceptional musicians when he toured with a band. Probably my favorite Canadian after Neil Young , he more than makes up for Bieber.
